V.O.S.A. Theatre (Czech Republic)
July 7, at 10:0 pm., Park Szczęśliwicki
V.O.S.A. Theatre was founded in 2010 by a group of acrobats and performers. They prepared, under the direction of Jakub Vedral, the spectacle High Dreaming - a parade with the features of a new circus and with live music, which was presented at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.
The team consists of professional actors and musicians with many years of experience in creating an independent, alternative street theatre. The company specializes in creating the artistic part of prestigious international events, during which it presents performances specially adapted to the place and the existing conditions. The company took part in the opening ceremony of the Hockey World Championships in Košice in Slovakia (2011) and appeared during the Formula 1 competition in Bahrain in 2014.
In July 2013 the group staged the show They at the International Street Theatre Festival Behind the Door in Prague. Then the Ramble performance was produced (for the Czech National Pavilion at EXPO 2015) and the ArtBallooning show, which was selected as an artistic program for EXPO 2016 in Antalya, Turkey.
V.O.S.A. cooperates with many international festivals and non-profit organizations, they have also performed for various commercial partners.
A characteristic feature of the company is creating fanciful sceneries and depicting complicated relationships in completely non-theatrical places. The unique machines, created especially for this theatre, are used in a very creative way, both as the set and as movable objects. In almost all of the group's projects, the original theatre installation combines the worlds of theatre and fine arts, often with the use of modern technology.
The leader of the V.O.S.A. Theatre is Jakub Vedral, the originator and creator of the company. Vedral was responsible for the theatre production for the Czech Pavilion at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai and at EXPO 2015 in Milan. He is the director of two festivals – the Street Theatre Festival in Prague – Beyond the Door and Multifunctional Festival Živá streets in Pilzno.
Baron Prášil - a fantastic journey to the land of imagination and adventure, inspired by famous Baron Munchausen. The artists travel deep into dreams and illusions, beyond the boundaries of the material and immaterial world, into the circle of events that are difficult to describe. The performance consists of top-class acrobatics, live music and gigantic puppets – on water, on ground, on a volcano, on Earth and on the Moon .... "All of this in the stories from our dreams", say the creators of the performance. They ensure us by the way, that they do not want to focus on the story of one dreamer, because more than describing the adventures of Baron Munchausen, they are interested in the Baron in each and every one of us.
An important element of the spectacle is a monumental structure, which is both a frame for Baron's narrative, as well as a unique element of the set design.
